Tell us about the theme of your party and how you made it fabulous:
Every year, I let my children pick out the cake of their choice. I took my son to the local party supply store to look at cake toppers. Out of all the toppers, he picked the airplane. At first, I thought, wow, this is a pretty big cake topper, how am I going to put this on a cake. After brainstorming, I decided the airplane would "take off" from the cake.
The cake was a success! And, he still plays with the airplane.

List of Materials (craft) / Ingredients (cakes or cupcakes):
3 boxes cake mix, non-dairy whipped cream frosting, raspberry filling. 8 x 10 cake pan. cardboard, colored foil, misc. decorating supplies, candles and airplane.
Instructions for making your party craft or birthday treat:
After following the cake instructions on the box, I fill the prepared cake pan with the mix. I use one pan filled 2/3 way, then bake. After the cake is done, I level off the top of the cake and then cut the cake horizontally in two.
Then, I mix the non-dairy whipped cream frosting in the mixer according to directions.
I then, mixed some of the raspberry filling along with the whipped cream frosting. I spread a good layer of this on the bottom half of the cake. Then, I put the top half back on top.
I put a little food coloring in the whipped cream frosting and spread all over the top of the cake. I used chocolate frosting for the runway and pre-made decorators frosting for the writing and the yellow line.
For the clouds, I used the whipped cream frosting.

Contest Photo Tips and Guidelines:
- Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your gingerbread house or holiday cookie is the star!
- Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
- Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
- For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
- With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
