Tell us about the theme of your party and how you made it fabulous:

It was a friend's little boy's birthday and he was turning four. So I really wanted to make him a Jack Skellington cake. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of his favorite movies and it is my favorite of all time. Earlier in the year I had painted the characters from the movie on his wall in his bedroom.
The reason their are two cakes is he had two parties that day. One with one side of his family and one with the other side. I tried to mix it up a little by making the bases on the two cakes different!
He loved them. His mom loved me after he ate the black bow tie and had a black mouth!

List of Materials (craft) / Ingredients (cakes or cupcakes):

Two Cake mixes of your choice
Premade purchased Fondant or a homemade version
icing colors - black and red

Instructions for making your party craft or birthday treat:

Regular cake mixes to fill the Ball cake pan by wilton and the square 8" base for one of the cakes to fit on.
I iced the entire cake with a stiff buttercream. I shaped fondant into the collar and after it dried I painted it with icing colors thinned with water.
Contest Photo Tips and Guidelines:
  • Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your gingerbread house or holiday cookie is the star!
  • Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
  • Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
  • For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
  • With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
