Brief Description:

A two layer yellow cake, dyed gray and iced in gray Buttercream and filled with "wires" and "batteries" made of candy. Make in honor of a Ham Radio operator's 35th birthday!

Ingredients:

1 yellow cake mix
1/3 cup apple sauce
9 tbls Eggbeaters
1/2 cup water
1 tbls oil

2 and 1/2 cups Buttercream icing

Black icing coloring
Assorted candy

Steps:

Mix one yellow boxed cake, adding black icing color and cook in 9x13 pan. Allow to cool and cut in half to form radio shape. Fill inside of cake layers with licorice candy and Tootsie Rolls to look like batteries and wires.

Ice stacked cake with gray icing. Allow to crust over. Smooth icing. Decorate with buttons and screen and use a scrap of cake to make an antennae.
