Description

My son could not decide what he wanted to be for Halloween. He wanted something funny, and not scary, but most important not too baby-ish. We stopped at the store and picked up some snacks. He wanted some peanuts. He looked down at the Planters bag and said, "Mom, I want to be Mr. Peanut".

Materials

Two yards yellow fleece fabric to cover body. One queen bed egg crate foam matress (cut in two)to create body. Black puffy paint for the eye/nose, mouth and specticle. One hat, glue on letters. One plastic tube for walking stick painted black with white tips. White fleece gloves. Black duct tape. Two 4" pieces of elastic at shoulders to hold up costume. A long sleeve black shirt and black pants.

Instructions

  • Very easy to make, it took less than 6 hours.
Directions. Measure child's torso and add 4" for smallest part and draw out shape from that point. Cut shape of peanut on foam. Leave small indentations open for arms. Sew two pieces of foam together with yarn-leave bottom and arm areas open. Layout fabric over foam and pin shape out to sew to one side only. Slat extra material from arms and tape inside both foam areas. Cut out face area based on head height and add extra fabric for comfort. Leave 12" from top for face cut out. Sew fabric and place over costume. Add two straps of elastic at shoulder height so costume does not fall down. Hand sew underneath costume from front to back on both sides. Don't forget to line face with fabric so soft. Paint mouth over opening for face and space out eye and specticle. Paint a white pvc stick back except for top and bottom-leave white. Add remaining foam to inde of hat and cover with material. Secure hat to sides, back and front and add letters. Tape down sides and bottom with duct tape. Add white gloves and you are ready to go.

Tips for Taking a Great Photo:
    • Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your costume is the star!
    • Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
    • Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
    • For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
    • With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
