Contest Photo by: mazinbenny

Description

Our daughter dressed up as a Lite Brite, with functional lights!

Materials

cardboard box
sharp knife or scissors
school or craft glue
white paper
black paper
several strands of battery-operate LED holiday lights
duct tape
drill or sharp object for poking holes for lights
markers

Instructions

  • Cut arm holes and a head hole in the cardboard box. Use caution with the knife or scissors.

  • Cover the front of the box with black paper, and all other sides with white paper. Attach the paper with the glue.

  • Carefully drill holes for the lights in the pattern of choice (we did a jack-o-lantern).

  • Feed lights into the holes from inside the box. Tape down the wires and battery packs to the inside of the box.

  • Use the markers to color logos on the sides and back of the box. We also used the markers to color the all-white strands of lights into the colors we desired (orange, green, yellow).

  • Smile and enjoy everyone telling you how great your costume is!

  • 300x250
Tips for Taking a Great Photo:
    • Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your costume is the star!
    • Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
    • Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
    • For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
    • With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
