Description
Marine Corps Dress Blues. My husband is a marine and I thought it would be cute if my son could be one too. It is impossible to find Dress Blues for a toddler, so I decided to make it myself. It fits him perfect and he loves wearing it.
Materials
1. Boys Black Blazer
2. Boys Blue Dress Pants
3. White Canvas Belt with Gold Buckle
4. White Cover (Hat)
5. Black Shiny Shoes
6. Red Piping
7. Gold Buttons
8. Womens Chevrons
9. Medallion

Instructions
JACKET:
Take the boys black blazer and unfold the lapel and collar. Iron out the crease. Sew on red piping around all the edges except the cuff. Add red piping to the shoulder. Sew on buttons. Since, the jacket only has 3 to 4 holes, you will have to pin the top part closed, but add decorative buttons. Add buttons to the pockets, shoulder, collar, and cuffs. Iron on womens chevrons to each sleave (above the elbow). Attach white belt. The belt should rest at the bottom of the rib cage (not low on the waist). Add the Medallion to the left breast.
Pants:
If the Chevrons you purchase have 1 bar, the pants should be plain blue. If it has 2 bars, you should sew piping down the outside seam of the blue pants.
Cover (Hat):
This hat is a white "Yacht" hat. It had a patch on the front, but I removed it and added an Eagle, Globe and Anchor pin.
Tips for Taking a Great Photo:
- Avoid clutter. Keep the background simple -- your costume is the star!
- Daytime, natural light is best. If your area is bright enough, try taking the photo without the flash.
- Upload a horizontal photo. If you crop the image on your computer, make sure you keep a landscape 4:3 aspect ratio.
- For best results, make your image 1200x900 (or "save for web").
- With a digital camera, you can take as many photos as possible and choose the best one. Have fun!
